Realtime telepresence bidding platform for the auction industry. Integrates 3 live audio video streams, along with real time auction bidding data to and from the auction. The platform also provides credit checking services for potential bidders.
Global Auction Network asked us to build a remote auction system for worldwide auction bidders. Among the many challenges was the need for high availability, and a latency of under 5 seconds for the video streams as well as the bidding information.
In order to accomplish this, we realized that not only did we need to build the user interfaces, we also needed to build out the server architecture, and streaming hardware. After investigating and testing several solutions, we settled on an architecture that utilized Adobe’s Flash Platform, in concert with Coldfusion Application Server.
We created a system that met and exceeded Global Auction Networks expectations. By using a combination of a custom server architecture, some very nifty streaming and the Adobe Flash platform, we were able to broadcast the live auction data, and realtime interactivity in a robust, lightweight platform. We were also able to deliver this solution in record time because the tight integration between Adobe Coldfusion and the Adobe Flash Platform, made it easy to secure and deliver data to the client.
