Emsono leads the field in on-demand ultrasound education, trusted by over 70 ultrasound emergency programs. When Emsono needed a reporting application to crunch some numbers for their user analytics system, they turned to the team at Curious Minds.

The Challenge

The team at Emsono was using a third party data warehouse to gather analytics, but was not able to transform it into actionable intelligence. The data needed to be collated against course information pulled from their third-party learning management system API.

Quick time to market

Emsono needed to get their reporting solution up and running in a matter of weeks. The entire planning and discovery process, along with the implementation and deployment and testing of this mission-critical application had to take place over the course of 14 weeks.

Right tools for the job

To make this project a success, Curious Minds needed to find a framework that could handle both the application logic, as well as the user interfaces, and contained enough baked-in functionality to quickly assemble an authentication framework, file downloads, api calls and the user interfaces. We turn to the Laravel framework, a battle-tested framework that allowed us to quickly implement the application features.

Done and deployed

Getting the application completed is one thing. Getting it deployed to production is another. In order to get the application rapidly deployed, we turned to a Laravel related solution, Forge. Forge allowed us to create and provision a Digital Ocean instance, install the application, apply encryption and migrate the database, all from the push of a button. Using a best-in-class application framework, and a cloud based hosting stack, Curious Minds was able to achieve Emsono’s objectives for the project in record time.
